Local youth group biked to fight hunger

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church youth group held its annual Bike Ride for World Hunger Relief in August. The group raised a total of $7,172.07.

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church youth Johanna Dellenbach and Sam Strong present a check for $2,366.80 to Rhinelander Area Food Pantry volunteer, Joanne O’Brien.

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church acolytes Alex Fortier and Ethan Snyder present a check for $4,805.27 to Don Schuett, a representative of the Northern Great Lakes Synod committee for world hunger relief, at the start of service on Jan. 17. The youth raised over $7,100 with their annual bike ride held in August.
Youth and their families who took part in the bike ride presented a check recently to Don Schuett, a representative from the Northern Great Lakes Synod. That money will go to the ELCA World Hunger relief program. Youth will also present a check to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry for local hunger needs.
The Northern Great Lakes Synod will receive a check for $4,805.27 for world hunger and the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry will receive a check for the remaining $2,366.80 for local hunger relief efforts.
Last August members of the youth group rode the Bear Skin Bike Trail from Rhinelander to Minocqua and back. Planning has already started for this year’s bike ride.
