Volunteers needed for AIS Bridge Snapshot Day

Oneida County’s Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator is in need of volunteers to help monitor invasives along selected stream crossings. ‘Bridge Snapshot Day’ will take place Friday August 28 in Rhinelander and September 1 in Three Lakes, both days are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No experience is necessary – training will take place on site.

Snapshot Day Agenda

9 – 9:30 a.m. Registration/Liability Forms/Distribute Site Assignments and Packets – During this time, folks who have already registered and received their assignments will be encouraged to begin to study specimens that are available on site.

9:30 – 10 a.m. Training – Local Coordinator will provide a brief training on the identification of the species of concern using specimens, scans, etc. They will also instruct volunteers on safety, monitoring protocols, voucher collection and preventing the spread. Take a group picture!

10 a.m. – noon Field Work

noon – 1 p.m. Submit Data and Vouchers/Volunteer Appreciation – As volunteers return to submit their data and vouchers, refreshments may be provided.
