Results from the Regional Special Olympics

These Rhinelander athletes competed last weekend in the regional Special Olympics in Merrill. Several are moving on to the State level.

This past Saturday, May 9th the School District of Rhinelander Special Olympics team traveled to Merrill for regional track and field competition.

According to coach Shelley Lehman, the students had a great time and did their best. Four athletes, James Michniak, Krustal Kriesel, Hannah Karstedt and Kegan Marko qualified to compete at the next level – the state Special Olympics.

Following are the athletes, their events and how they finished:

Gabe White (6th in softball and 2nd in 100M run)
Sarec Trudeau (7th in softball and in 50M run)
Miguel Gonzalez (7th in softball and 5th in 100M)
Paige Appling (7th in softball and 6th in 100M)
Max Everhart (4th in softball and 8th in 100M_
Devon Stanley (3rd in softball and 7th in 100M)
Hannah Karstedt (2nd in softball and 1st in 50MR)
Keegan Marko (6th in turbo jav, 3rd in shot and 2nd in 100M)
Krystal Kriesel (2nd in softball and 6th in 100)
James Michniak (6th in softball and 1st in 100 M)

The following four athletes qualified for State which will be held on June 4th -6th at UW-Stevens Point. James Michniak in the 100M run, Krystal Kriesel in the softball throw, Hannah Karstedt qualified in the 50M run and the softball throw and Keegan Marko qualified in the 100M run and the shot put. Great job to all the athletes! Good luck at STATE!
