Hodag Musky Challenge results
The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce winners from the 2014 edition of the Rhinelander Toyota Hodag Musky Challenge held on five lake groups in the Rhinelander area September 19-21, 2014. 77 teams competed for a chance at close to $14,000 in cash payouts. Winners from last weekend’s Challenge include:
1st Place: Scott Denzer and Kevin Douglas from Madison – fishing on Lakes George and Thompson.
2nd Place: Jason Mollen and Todd Havel from Rhinelander- fishing on Crescent Lake and Lake Julia
3rd Place: Brad and Matt Rollins from Schaumburg, IL – fishing on the Moen Lake chain
4th Place: Bryan Destefanis and Steve Boulden from De Pere – fishing on Oneida Lake and Lake Hancock
5th Place: David Prodzinski and Todd Schlavensky from Kenosha – fishing on Boom Lake and the Wisconsin River
6th Place: Michael Schneider and Nate Eveland from Dodgeville – fishing on the Moen Lake chain
7th Place: Rodney Reader and Richard Coenen from Little Chute – fishing on Oneida Lake and Lake Hancock
8th Place (tie): Eric Dombeck and Nelson Eisele from Rhinelander, WI – fishing on Boom Lake and the Wisconsin River
8th Place (tie): Mark Bromann and Jim Watson from Wheaton, IL – fishing on the Moen Lake Chain.
Largest Musky Caught on Saturday: Todd Havel, 47 inches on Crescent Lake
Largest Musky Caught on Sunday: Michael Schneider and Nate Eveland, 41.25 inches on the Moen Chain
Largest Northern Pike Caught for the Weekend: Nick Starr and Mike Buse, 33 inches on the Wisconsin River
Fishermen were also competing for $250 drawings for undersized muskies successfully caught and released for each day of the tournament. Winners of Saturday’s drawing was the team of Dan Brekke and Mick Miller from Rhinelander, and Sunday’s winners were Robert Rodizak and Ken Liebnitz from Rhinelander.
10 legal muskies were successfully caught and released by nine different teams over the course of the weekend. An additional 41 undersized muskies were reported to also be successfully caught and released over the weekend.
The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce thanks the many volunteers that provided their services as lake station officials on Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers included Tony Turek, Buck Kipper, the Flyin Finn Pub & Resort, Richard Lower, Harry Helwig, Bill Akan, Andy Hendrickson, Jeff and Wendy Larson of Larson’s North Haven Resort, Bill Huber, Brett Aylesworth, Dean Johnson at Musky Bay Resort, Scott Meland and the Alpine Resort, Jaque Wilson, Stacy Harris, Beth and Gary Poast, Harry Siwkowski, Jeff Schweizer, and Vern Storm.
The Rhinelander Toyota Hodag Musky Challenge would also not be possible without the support of local area business sponsors.
