Obituary: William J. Gauthier, Sr.

William J. Gauthier Sr., 81 died Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born in Rhinelander on June 19, 1933 to Joseph V. and Ella M. (Gilbert) Gauthier. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Kennedy of Rhinelander, William J. Gauthier Jr. of Tomahawk, Peter Gauthier of Brooklyn Park, MN, David (Bobbie) Gauthier of Tomahawk, Teresa (Russell) Kaphingst of Rhinelander; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Dellenbach and Jane (Harold) Garrow of Rhinelander and Liz (Bob) Putnam of Florida. He was preceded in death by son Michael A. Gauthier; twin infant grandsons; son-in-law; James Kennedy; two sisters; Melva Nolte and Josephine Gauthier. William served in the Army. A combined visitation and service for William and Betty will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Scheele officiating. The visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors will follow the luncheon at Greenwood Cemetery, Tomahawk.
