ATV crash near Tomahawk
At approximately 11:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a single ATV crash at the intersection of Cloverbelt Road and Cty. D in the Township of King just outside Tomahawk. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln County EMS responded to the scene and found that 49-year-old Michael Van Strydonk of Tomahawk had been operating his ATV southbound on Cloverbelt Road and rolled it as he approached the intersection of Cty. D. At the time of the call, Van Strydonk, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was said to be conscious and talking, but by the time emergency personnel arrived on the scene minutes later, he was unresponsive.
Van Strydonk was transported by Lincoln County ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk and later transferred by Spirit Ground Transport ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield with what were believed to be serious but not life-threatening injuries. As of Thursday morning, he was reported to be in stable condition.
The recreation deputy from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
