The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has identified the skeletal remains found in a wooded area near Lake Julia in the town of Pelican as Steven J. Boron, 54, of Oneida County.

Boron was reported as an absconder from probation/parole in May of 2013. The sheriff’s department said the initial investigation indicates no sign of foul play.

On Monday, June 30, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a citizen found what appeared to be skeletal remains of a human.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death.
