Rhinelander Police Association to hold 5k run/walk at Boom Lake Log Jam
The Rhinelander Professional Police Association (RPPA) is hosting its first annual “Foot Chase” 5k run/walk race in conjunction with the Boom Lake Log Jam June 21. Participants will get to run alongside RPPA members and current Rhinelander police officers.
The “Foot Chase” will begin and end in Hodag Park and will give participants a full view of Log Jam activities. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Hodag Park Saturday, June 21, and all races will start shortly after 9 a.m.
“It’s great to have the support and participation of the Rhinelander Professional Police Association and its members,” said Dana DeMet, executive director of the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce. “This provides yet another great opportunity for all community members to come out and enjoy the festivities that are a part of the Boom Lake Log Jam.”
The Log Jam is a three-day community festival taking place in Hodag Park that will celebrate the rich logging history of the Rhinelander area. Scheduled activities include logging shows and competitions, live music, a pancake breakfast, kid’s activity tent and scavenger hunt, and displays of the latest forestry equipment.
The RPPA is a group of Rhinelander police officers who banded together to advocate for the rights and protection of Rhinelander peace officers. The RPPA uses funds it raises to support programs like its Criminal Justice scholarship and “Shop with a Cop” event near the holidays.
