Swim Club competes in Fond du Lac Regionals
Twenty-four Rhinelander Swim Club swimmers traveled to Fond du Lac Feb. 21 to 23 to compete in the regional meet. After the regular season, RSC swimmers have the option to join the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club (NLAC) to continue compete throughout the year. This year, NLAC came in first in the team scores division more 22 central Wisconsin teams.
Jack Antonuk received the third place high points trophy with his second thru eighth place finishes in the seven events he swam. Grace Heck took off 21.17 seconds from her 500 yard freestyle for a new time of 6:37.25 and 9.25 seconds from her 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:24.09. Joseph Heck dropped 5.40 seconds from his 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:09.51 and 7.24 seconds from his 100 yard breaststroke. Martin Hoger took off 6.93 seconds in his 200 yard freestyle for a new time of 2:52.28. Taylor Hollands took off 9.75 seconds from her 100 yard breaststroke for a time of 1:35.41 and another 15.51 seconds from the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:38.57. Tucker Lindman took off 5.67 seconds from his 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:35.78. Maddie Quinn dropped 12.66 seconds from her 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:16.08. Eleanor Schiek took off 6.46 seconds from her 50 yard backstroke for a time of 42.12 seconds. Jacob Schoppe dropped 8.64 seconds from his 100 yard freestyle for a time of 1:28.69 and 7.27 seconds in his 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:39.86. Sam Schoppe took off 7.50 seconds from his 50 yard freestyle with a time of 47.21 seconds. Makenna Winnicki dropped 9.62 from her 200 yard freestyle for a new time of 2:40.23.
Finishing in the top 10 overall in one or more events were Jack Antonuk, Miranda Erdmann, Charlie Heck, James Heck, Joseph Heck, Thaddeus Heck, Martin Hoger, Tucker Lindman, Eleanor Schiek, Annalyse Schoppe, Jacob Schoppe, Sam Schoppe and Abi Winnicki.
Several RSC swimmers have qualified for the Midwest Regional Meet in Minnesota in April and Russell Benoy qualified for the State Meet in March.
