Some area ski trails are open this weekend
The Washburn Lake Cross Country Ski Trails are packed and groomed and
ready to go for this weekend for some early December skiing.
The trails have a base of 1 to 4 inches and the Rhinelander Area Silent
Trails Association (RASTA) said the deck is from poor to OK condition.
RASTA is working on grooming the Noose Lake Ski Trail and are hopefully to have it up and running this weekend or next week.
The Rhinelander Community Trails are open with good to very good
conditions for skate skiing. The CAVOC ski trails are also groomed for
skating with good to very good conditions.
In the Northwen Highland-American Legion State Forest all the trails
have had the base packed and are in the process of clearing the low
hanging and leaning branches from the ice and snow. As
the trails are cleared and conditions permit, grooming will begin.
Minocqua Winter Park is officially opening for the season this weekend with early season skiing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
