The Zumba Party for Paws held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Northwood’s Banquet Center raised $1,300 for the Oneida County Humane Society.

This monetary donation was in addition to the hundreds of dollars of “wish list” items, (cat litter, bleach, cleaning supplies, animal toys, etc.), that were dropped off at the event.

Certified Zumba instructors, Val Foley, Sara Gardner, Heather Peters, Karen Frisque, Katie Simonson; and event coordinators, Veronika Baron and Angela Kirkham, led the event.

Many businesses donated items for the event that were raffled off to dance participants. Subway donated gift cards and also provided sub sandwiches for the dancers. Ripco Credit Union donated raffle items as well as providing bottled water. Other businesses that donated items were: Northern Coffee Haus, Rhinelander Cafe and Pub, Pat’s Tavern and Grill, YMCA of the Northwoods, Mel’s Trading Post, Bikes’n Boards, Crimson Cafe, Family Video, Fun Factory, Rouman Cinema and D&J Auto.

“It was such a positive turn out and members in the community asked if this would be an annual event and we are definitely going to consider making it one,” Baron said.
