Volunteers needed for Repair Fair at the Hodag Dome

Posted

Have a knack for fixing things? The Hodag Dome is looking for volunteer fixers to share their skills and help give broken or damaged items a second life at its upcoming Repair Fair on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.

“The free community event connects people with local volunteers who can repair items, offer helpful advice, or teach others how to make their own fixes,” organizers said in a press release. “The goal is simple: keep useful items out of the landfill, share practical skills, and bring the community together. Organizers are especially interested in volunteers with experience in textile repair, small electronics and appliances, sewing machines, bicycle adjustments, jewelry repair, technology help, woodworking, knife sharpening, and other handy skills. Whether you’re an experienced repair professional or simply someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, your knowledge could make a difference.”

“Sometimes all it takes is the right person with the right skill to give something a second life,” organizers say. “We’re hoping to bring together a variety of fixers and continue building our community’s repair skills.”

Volunteer fixers are encouraged to sign up in advance and share the types of projects they can help with. Organizers also welcome suggestions for additional repair skills and project ideas.

The Repair Fair will take place at the Hodag Dome in Rhinelander on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Repairs and assistance are free to community members. To volunteer or learn more, contact halvejan@rhinelander.k12.wi.us.
