Up, up and away: Saluting Our Heroes Balloon Rally Aug. 1-2

Over 20 hot air balloons will take to the skies over the Hodag Country Fest Grounds (4270 River Road) on Aug. 1-2 as the Rhinelander community celebrates and honors those who serve — veterans, police, fire, EMS, and volunteers — with the Saluting Our Heroes Balloon Rally.
From 4 to 10 p.m. both days members of the public will be able to see the balloons up close or take a tethered ride for an additional fee.
Admission to the rally is $10 per person, with children under 5 admitted free.
At 8:30 p.m. each evening, the balloons will participate in a “musical balloon glow,” choreographed to music hosted by local radio personality Dave Kallaway. As the balloon flames ignite, the balloons will glow in rhythm with the music, creating a lantern-like spectacle in the night sky, organizers said in a press release.
In addition to the balloon displays, the rally will include a food truck rally, vendors offering food, drinks and merchandise, kids activities, and live music performances.
