Trig's to give away free flowers in Petal It Forward campaign

Posted

Residents across northern Wisconsin communities will have a chance to receive free flowers this Wednesday as local florists participate in a nationwide effort to spread kindness and joy.

Teams from Trig's Floral & Home and Village Market Floral will distribute complimentary flower bouquets to passersby on Wednesday, October 15, as part of the annual Petal It Forward movement. The initiative, organized by the Society of American Florists, encourages spontaneous acts of kindness and highlights the positive effects flowers have on emotional well-being.

Each recipient will receive two bouquets – one to keep and another to give away, creating what organizers hope will be a ripple effect of generosity throughout the community.

"Petal It Forward is one of our favorite days of the year," said Mike Johnson, Director of Produce & Floral Merchandising at Trig's. "There's nothing quite like seeing someone's face light up when they receive unexpected flowers—and knowing they'll then pass that joy along to someone else. It's a simple but powerful reminder of how small gestures can make a big impact."

This marks the sixth consecutive year that Trig's and Village Market have participated in the campaign.

The flower giveaways will begin at 10 a.m. and continue while supplies last at multiple locations:

  • Minocqua: downtown area
  • Rhinelander: downtown Brown Street
  • Eagle River: starting at the Police Department, then moving to downtown businesses, the Post Office and banks
  • Tomahawk: end of Main Street near the Post Office
  • Manitowish Waters: starting at the Community Center, then visiting downtown businesses

Community members, customers, and media are invited to participate in the giveaway and help spread the message of kindness throughout the region.
