The Rhinelander Community Foundation (RCF) has announced the establishment of the Northwoods Nordic Legacy Endowment Fund, an endowed agency fund created to provide long-term financial support for the Northwoods Nordic Ski Club. According to an RCF press release, the fund was established to provide permanent support for the club’s operations, helping ensure the continued maintenance of high-quality ski venues and the development of cross-country skiing opportunities in the Rhinelander area.
The idea for the Northwoods Nordic Legacy Fund was inspired by the passion of Brian Hegge, who passed away on July 6, 2025. Hegge was a strong advocate for the long-term sustainability of the club and its programs, and the fund reflects his vision of creating enduring support for future generations of skiers.
Northwoods Nordic Ski Club is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that relies on membership fees, donations, and sponsorships. Its mission is: “To foster the sport of cross country skiing in the Rhinelander area by maintaining high-quality venues and supporting progressive developmental ski-programming for our youth, community and visitors.”
As an endowed fund, contributions to the Northwoods Nordic Legacy Fund will create a lasting source of support for the club, helping preserve and strengthen Northwoods Nordic’s programs, facilities, and impact in the community for years to come, the release states.
