City Council approves site plans for RIA, Associated Bank projects
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
Site plans for a couple of new construction projects in Rhinelander received City Council approval Monday night.
Council members approved a site plan for the Rhinelander Ice Arena at 2021 E. Timber Drive to build an 80X100-foot training center addition. The stand-along building will be located off of the northwest corner of the current Ice Arena building and be connected with a 30X10-foot breezeway.
According to the site plan application, the occupancy of the new engineered steel building will be 125 and have locker rooms, bathrooms and a training space. With the occupancy of the current building at 740, the total maximum occupancy of the two buildings combined would be 865.
The foundation for the training center addition, for which the site plan was recommended last month by the city Planning Commission, has already been poured.
Council members also approved a site plan for the construction of a new Associated Bank branch bank at the former site of a Pizza Hut at 304 Lincoln St.
Associated Bank has proposed removing the existing structure in its entirety and replacing it with a single-story, 2,700-square-foot branch bank, which would have a three-lane drive-thru and front onto Lincoln Street.
To accommodate parking at the site, the City Council approved leasing a 23-foot strip of city-owned land to Associated Bank.
The initial lease term of 25 years is for $100 a year and could automatically renew for eight successive five-year terms, unless the bank provides written notice 210 days prior to the expiration of the current lease term.
