Swearingen to run for a third term
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
Representative Rob Swearingen (R-Rhinelander) will run for a third term in the State Assembly. He said he’s proud of the work he has done to bring more jobs and prosperity to the Northwoods.
“I am humbled with the outpouring of support and encouragement to run for a third term,” Swearingen said. “Over the past four years, Wisconsin has continued moving in the right direction. In 2015 alone, Wisconsin added over 35,000 private sector jobs while our statewide unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent.”
Swearingen said his focus will be to continue to fight for rural schools, advocate for expanded broadband capabilities, hold the line on taxes and promote our tourism industry,
In his second term, Swearingen served as chair of the Assembly State Affairs and Government Operations Committee and six other legislative committees.
Swearingen currently faces two Democrats in the 34th Assembly District. Matthew N. Michaelson and Lawrence Dale have both declared their candidacy. Top photo courtesy Rep. Rob Swearingen website.
