Rhinelander tennis dominates Lakeland
By Star Journal Staff.
Overall, a strong showing from the entire team. Great range of shot making and solid effort and teamwork.
In #1 singles, Ivy Packard attacked deep and set up points to take control of the net and the match. Kristina Jacobso at #2 singles found her serve a few games in and never looked back. Belinda Weddle at number 3 singles forced her opponent deep and controlled the baseline taking control of any shots lacking depth. Emily Ditzler subbed in for Katie Krueger at 4 singles and took control in the second set with a strong first serve and solid forehand volleys.
In doubles action, Eva O’Melia and Maddie Barnes controlled the net the entire match. Number 2 Bri DeNamur and Kianna Meyers maintained control of a few close games and finished strong. At number 3 doubles, Ali Schickert and Erica Counter ran down all the shots and started to control the match with their volleys after the first few games.
JV showed great poise and improvement and are gaining confidence with their abilities as their hard work on fundamentals is paying off.
