WXPR hires familar face as station manager
WXPR Public Radio has hired longtime Northwoods resident Pete Rondello as the new station manager.
Rondello graduated from Eagle River High School and currently lives near Boulder Junction. Though he’s worked with Coldwell Banker in Minocqua for more than twenty years, he has an extensive background in radio.
According to WXPR, Rondello began working as an on-air radio announcer in Eagle River at age 16. He spent time at several other Northwoods radio stations before becoming general manager at a station in Minocqua.
The new station manager said he’s excited to be returning to radio, especially public radio, and bringing fresh ideas and outreach to the station. “I’m just really excited to work for WXPR because it’s really a treasure,” he explained.”Everybody at the station is so dedicated and so passionate about the work that they do. We have such a great diverse group of people that come in every day to share their gifts. The business community has also been very supportive.”
Rondello takes over following the departure of Peg Arnold, who left in September. He’ll begin his duties on a part-time basis Jan. 5, 2015, and become full time Jan. 19.
