Community help needed for Hodag Musky Challenge
Volunteer to be a judge boat
The Hodag Musky Challenge organizers are looking for volunteers to help make the annual event a success. The HMC moved from a transport, lake station tournament to a judge boat scoring format in 2015. To continue, volunteers are needed to man the boats and register fish over on the tournament weekend, Sept. 21-23.
In 2015, the Hodag Musky Challenge moved to a Judge Boat scoring format. Historically the HMC has been a transport, lake station tournament. To continue the Judge Boat scoring format, we are in need of volunteers to man judge boats and register fish over the tournament weekend September 21-23 on a variety of Rhinelander area lakes.
“We couldn’t hold this tournament without the assistance we get from our community volunteers,” said Lauren Sackett, chamber director. “If you would like to spend a fall day on the water and get a chance to see these musky, please consider volunteering.”
The HMC is held on 5 different lake groups, encompassing 13 lakes and the Wisconsin River Flowage. In order to provide adequate coverage on the lakes for judging and registering, the tournament will need 20 boats on the water each day. Volunteers must provide their own boat, but official measuring boards and supplies will be provided by the tournament.
Volunteers will be compensated for the days that they volunteer. To register to judge the tournament, volunteers should contact the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce, indicate they would like to volunteer for the tournament and provide the day(s) they are available.
Tournament hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday Sept. 22 and 7 a.m-12 p.m. Sunday Sept. 23.
