On Saturday, September 14, paddlers of all ages will take to the waters of Big St. Germain Lake and the St. Germain River for the 6th Annual Woods and Water Paddle Races.

This annual fundraising event to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society includes both kayak, canoe (tandem teams), and paddle board divisions with a 5K and 7 mile race for each division. Both out-and-back flat-water courses will begin and end at Lynn Ann’s Campground, and will take paddlers on the waters of Big St. Germain Lake and the St. Germain River. The 7-mile race will involve a portage over the small damn on the St. Germain River. There will also be a short quarter-mile course for children ages 12 and under. Registration will be held starting at 9 a.m. with races beginning at 10 a.m.

Awards will be given for first, second and third place finishes for male and female in each division and first, second, and third place awards for tandem canoe teams. A prize will be given for best overall costume.

The Woods and Water Paddle Races will take place rain or shine, and will only be cancelled due to severely inclement conditions.

Registration is $20 per paddler through September 5 and $25 after September 5. Registration on the day of the races will begin at 9 a.m. with races starting at 10 a.m.

This event is open to the public. Lynn Ann’s Campground is located at 1597 S. Shore Drive in St. Germain.
