Wildlife Center accepting entries for photo contest

Posted

The Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua is now accepting entries for its 6th annual photo contest. The contest is open to all amateur photographers. The contest rules define "amateur" as someone who does not make more than 25 percent of his or her annual income from photography.

For an entry fee of $10 per photo, entries may be submitted in any of the following categories: North American Wildlife, Nature, and Pets. Returning this year is a category for youth. Photographers aged 14 and under will be able to submit entries with a "Northwoods" theme via the youth category. Prizes will be awarded to the winner in each category, and the winner of the North American Wildlife category will be deemed "Artist of the Year" for 2013.

Entries will be accepted at the Wildlife Center through Feb. 15, 2012. Judging will take place during the Gala event to be held on Feb. 25, 2012, at the Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua.

All proceeds from the event benefit the work of the Northwoods Wildlife Center. The center's mission is to work toward a better future for wildlife through rehabilitation, education and research.

For more information, call the center at (715) 356-7400.
