Volunteer drivers needed at the Senior Center

Posted
The numbers of seniors needing Home Delivered Meals is on the rise.  The Oneida County Senior Center is looking for volunteer drivers to deliver mid-day meals, helping seniors stay healthy and living in their own homes. Approximately 100 home delivered meals are packed and delivered Monday through Friday, and 20-30 older adults are served at noon in the dining room. In addition to drivers, kitchen volunteers are needed at the senior center to pack up the meals, getting them ready for delivery.

Volunteer shifts range from one and a half hours to three and a half hours per week. Mileage is paid at the federal allowable rate, and for volunteers 55 and over who are signed up with the Retired Senior Volunteer program there is no income to claim.

Aside from the meal program, the Oneida County Senior Center could use volunteer escort drivers to help adults unable to drive get to their appointments. Escort driving is scheduled on an as needed basis.

For details and more information, stop by the Senior Center, or call Stephanie or Mary, 715-369-6170, or 800-379-7499.
