The annual Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony was held Friday, March 27 at Northwoods National Cemetery. Cemetery manager Bryon Gleisner served as emcee and keynote speaker. The Northwoods Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders (District 11) color guard participated. According to the Defense Department, the annual commemoration is held to mark the day U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished in 1975. That same day was when the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. Also on March 27, Immanuel Lutheran Church and local veterans group partnered to host a blood drive at the Rhinelander Veterans Center.
