UPDATE: Sentencing took place Friday morning in Oneida County court for Shannon Wolf, who was found guilty by Alford plea Jan. 11 in connection with the death of Kenneth "Punky" Wells in 2003. Judge Michael Bloom sentenced Wolf to 30 years in prison, 19 in initial confinement and 11 years extended supervision. The time will be served concurrently with the sentence he is already serving in connection with aggravated assault and mayhem convictions in May, 2013. Wolf was given credit for 336 days.
A plea deal was reached this morning, less than an hour before Shannon Wolf’s homicide trial was scheduled to begin in Oneida County court. Wolf entered a guilty by Alford plea, to a reduced charge of being party to 2nd degree intentional homicide in the 2003 death of Kenneth Wells.
An Alford plea allows the defendant to plead guilty as part of a plea deal, but maintain his innocence.
In November, Wolf’s ex-wife LaToya was sentenced to 12 years in prison after a no-contest plea on similar charges.
Kenneth Wells’ body was found floating in the Wisconsin River. The case stalled for several years until LaToya Wolf came forward with information that Shannon Wolf was involved in the death.
Shannon Wolf will be sentenced Jan. 15.
