UPDATE: Vilas County authorities on Thursday identified the deceased as Timothy A. Boss, 59, of Manitowish Waters. Boss was the driver of one one of the vehicles. The status of other individuals involved in the crash who sustained non-life-threatening injuries is unknown.

A head-on collision in Vilas County Wednesday morning has resulted in one fatality. According to the Vilas County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a 911 call at 10:19 a.m. near the intersection of US HWY 51 and Bakken Road in the township of Boulder Junction.
Upon arrival it was discovered that two full-size pick-up trucks had collided head on. The jaws of life were needed to extract occupants of the trucks; all were transported to Howard Young Medical Center. One person died in the accident and other occupants of both vehicles received non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No further details have been released.
