UPDATE: ATV accident victim identified

CASSIAN – The victim of an ATV accident Aug. 25 has been identified as Jay T. Zeivel, 66, of Hazelhurst.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reported it appears the ATV failed to negotiate a curve and hit a telephone pole on Lakewood Road near Sand Lake Road in the town of Cassian.

Witnesses attempted life saving measures; however the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is completing the accident report. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Cassian first responders, Oneida County EMS, DNR, Minocqua Police Department and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Department.
