The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry has received a special donation of $1,786 to its Hodag Monster Meals program. The funds were raised through Trinity Lutheran’s Children’s Offering.
“This fun and generous effort shows how children—along with a caring community—can make a BIG difference for other kids right here in Rhinelander,” according to a press release announcing the donation. “Every dollar helps provide meals to children who need them most.”
The children’s offering is a time in the service when children are invited forward and bring money to the Jug. According to the press release, most children start with a dollar or two but by the time they make it to the front other worshippers have handed them more money and so they often have more money than their little hands can hold. Trinity always highlights a ministry that directly impacts children and sends 100% of the children’s offering off-site. RAFP Hodag Monster Meals was the designation for December.
“We appreciate the generosity of the congregation and the partnership with the RAFP to impact our community and take steps to end hunger,” the release states.
Courtney Smith, RAFP executive director, thanked the congregation for empowering its young people to help fight hunger and for supporting RAFP’s mission to nourish our community.
