Star Journal Report

A jury trial has been scheduled in Oneida County court for a Rhinelander man charged with the June 2018 physical and sexual assault of an elderly woman. A pre-trial hearing for Isaiah A.V. Moren, 22, is set for Nov. 19, and a five-day trial scheduled to begin Feb. 24. The case had been delayed due to the inability to secure an attorney for the defendant.

Moren is charged with first degree reckless injury, first degree sexual assault/great bodily harm, strangulation and suffocation, aggravated battery-intend great bodily harm, burglary, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor bail jumping.

According to the 24-page criminal complaint, an Ascension St. Mary’s emergency room nurse contacted authorities after a daughter had brought her elderly mother in to be treated and the mother had reported being both physically and sexually assaulted.

Oneida County deputies reported that DNA recovered from the victims clothing and person matched that of Moren. He remains jailed on a $500,000 cash bond.
