Three Lakes bird club president speaks to statewide group

Shortly after the announcement of Wisconsin having the second largest population of bird watchers in the U.S., and just in time for the spring bird migration, the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative and Bird City WI recently held its fourth annual Bird City WI Summit in Oshkosh which focused on making our communities healthier for birds and people.

Bill Lamon, president of the Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes, who initiated the effort behind Three Lakes becoming one of the 81 Bird City WI communities spoke to more than 200 attendees at this years’ summit on the topics of the “Power of Partnerships” and “Great International Migratory Bird Day Celebration Ideas.” 

The Nicolet Bird Club of Three Lakes will be hosting its IMBD celebration June 6 and 7 at the Three Lakes High School auditorium. The club holds their meeting every third Monday starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Three Lakes Community Center on School Street. 

“The club has a membership comprised of mainly beginner and intermediate birders, which makes it attractive to new members wanting to experience the joys of this sport,” Lamon said.
