An early morning fire on Thanksgiving Day has left a local resident and dogs homeless.
According to a post on the Pine Lake Fire Department Facebook page, firefighters were dispatched to Lakeshore Drive at approximately 5:38 a.m. Thanksgiving morning for a structure fire.
“(The) call was reported with structure fully involved with everyone out of the structure,” the post reads. “Engine 1 arrived on scene initiating fire attack with a 2.5” ground monitor. After securing a water supply via drafting from a porta tank several handlines were also used to extinguish the fire. Firefighters encountered several small explosions while suppressing the fire. Automatic aid was received from Pelican FD and Stella FD. Command upgraded the call utilizing MABAS to the 1st box shortly after upgrading to the 2nd box for Tankers for additional water. Truck 1 was also set up for an aerial master stream to assist with extinguishing the fire.”
Firefighters were on scene for approximately four hours. Newbold FD, Crescent FD, Three Lakes FD, Fire District Alpha also responded under the MABAS request.
According to the post, the owner was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
