Downtown Rhinelander Inc. is hosting its first FREE Summer Nights Concert in downtown Rhinelander Saturday, June 4, featuring the bands Conga Se Menne and the Brothers Burn Mountain.
Conga Se Menne is a Finnish reggae band based out of Marquette, Mich. While their lyrics are geared for fun, the quality of their sound is no laughing matter; their music runs the gamut of blues, funk, Latin, reggae, rock, Caribbean beats and ethnic Finnish sounds, making for a true musical journey. Conga Se Menne is sponsored by Nicolet College.
The Brothers Burn Mountain, siblings Jesse and Ryan Dermody, hail from Duluth, Minn. and have been playing music together for 15 years. Their music ranges from rock and roll to blues to folk and their drum “duos” (not solos, as they both play the same drumset) are truly a sight – and sound – to behold. The Brothers Burn Mountain is sponsored by the Hext Theatre.
The stage will be located near the intersection of Brown and Davenport Streets. The Brothers Burn Mountain will take the stage at 5:45 p.m., followed by Conga Se Menne at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be standing room only, but attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs. Organizers say they hope the concert will bring people into the downtown area not only to enjoy some great music, but also to celebrate the current construction project.
NOTE: If rain occurs as forecast, the concert will take place inside the Hext Theatre at 25 South Brown Street in Downtown Rhinelander. Attendees should plan to come early, as there will be limited space inside. The performance times will remain the same as originally stated.
