Steelworkers Union local 2-15, employed at Ahlstrom-Munksjö, recently donated $500 to the STEM Scouts program in Rhinelander. The money will be used to provide financial assistance to families in need. STEM Scouts focuses on fun and exciting opportunities for boys and girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Through weekly after school meetings using six-week thematic modules that cover a variety of disciplines, STEM Scouts is designed to be fast paced, thought provoking and fun. The co-ed program is available to elementary and middle school students and gives them the opportunity to develop better STEM understanding and skills. Youth can join labs at Central and Pelican elementary schools as well as participate in a STEM Camp for elementary and middle school students June 29-July at the Crystal Lake Scout Reservation in Rhinelander.
