Snowshoe Hike at Holmboe March 5

Posted

The public is invited to join Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) for a free guided snowshoe walk from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at the Holmboe Conifer Forest State Natural Area in Rhinelander. According to Frank Schroyer, NWLT Land Conservation Associate, “This 38-acre property along the Pelican River has been welcoming the public since it became a conservation area 1965, and later a designated State Natural Area. It is a great venue to snowshoe among old-growth hemlocks and see what other animal signs we can find along the way.”
Participants will be snowshoeing on trail for about a mile stopping numerous times to talk about the unique old-growth forest and other features of the area. Participants need to bring their own snowshoes. To register for the event, visit www.northwoodslandtrust.org. Space is limited.
Directions to Holmboe Conifer Forest State Natural Area: The parking area is located in the City of Rhinelander behind the Riverview Hall facility at 903 Boyce Dr. You can type “Holmboe Conifer Forest Trailhead” into Google Maps. The Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) permanently conserves natural shorelands, woodlands and other natural resources to benefit present and future generations in Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Iron, Price and Langlade Counties.
