Eight Rhinelander Swim Club members and their families traveled to Minneapolis, Minn., on March 23 and 24 to participate in the Midwest Regional Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Qualified club members competed against teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and South Dakota.
Jack Antonuk (8) placed 26 out of 35 in the 25-yard freestyle with a time of 17.19 seconds, 26 out of 30 in the 50-yard backstroke with a time 50.76 seconds, 32 out of 56 in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 40.36 seconds, 14 out of 20 in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 50.56 seconds and 22 out of 23 in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:33.15. Miranda Erdmann (11) placed 29 out of 49 in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:24.12, 30 out of 59 in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 38.61 seconds and 14 out of 37 in the 200-yard medley relay. Charlie Heck (7) placed 25 out of 30 in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 50.63 seconds and 51 out of 56 in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 46.23 seconds. Grace Heck (11) placed 46 out of 125 in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.40 seconds, 57 out of 89 in the 100-yard freestyle and 14 out of 37 in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Joseph Heck (10) placed 17 out of 56 in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 37.98 seconds, 46 out of 56 in the 50-yard freestyle with time of 33.82 seconds, 17 out of 32 in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:22.41, 48 out of 56 in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:19.38, 7 out of 14 in the 200-yard medley relay and 7 out of 15 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Tucker Lindman (8) placed 15 out of 20 in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 50.58 seconds. Audrey Schiek (8) placed 30 out of 36 in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 21.11 seconds. Sayge Stojadinovic (10) placed 42 out of 86 in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:25.89, 21 out of 79 in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.59 in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.59, 15 out of 63 in the 50-yard butterfly, 4 out of 20 in the 200-yard medley relay and 1 out of 21 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Rhinelander Swim Club is hosting its "Stay Wet Season" starting April 9. The season will run for seven weeks at a cost of $35 per swimmer. Families can register the first night of practice. Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the RHS pool, with a possible late practice for experienced swimmers, depending on the number of swimmers. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) in the backstroke or front crawl unaided to be eligible.
