Rhinelander Swim Club (RSC) finished atop the conference standings following the final regular season season meet Feb. 4 in Rice Lake.
The club placed first with 1,484 points, and in the process broke a few conference records. Jack Antonuk, 12, broke two records, the mens 11-12 200 yd freestyle (2:26.46) and the mens 11-12 100 yd butterfly (1:14.30); Abbi Winnicki, 10, now holds the 9-10 200 yd freestyle record (2:35.45) and the womens 9-10 50 yd backstroke (38.26) as well as the 100 yd backstroke record (1:25.45).
“The RSC swimmers thrived off of the success of winning divisionals and went on to show everyone just how badly they wanted to win at championships,” said coach Megan Cihla.”It was wonderful to see these kids show their competitive side and fight for those close races. From our youngest athlete to our oldest athlete, everyone who competed this past weekend helped contribute points. It's a great feeling to know that these kids' hard work really paid off. The Rhinelander swimming community couldn't be any prouder of these kids.”
