Rhinelander students compete at FBLA Regionals

Rhinelander High School is sending 18 FBLA students on to state competition in April. A group of 26 competed in Athens Feb. 3, against 700 other students from the northern part of the state, in business-related events from accounting to parliamentary procedure.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Rhinelander chapter placed first in community service; they placed fourth for the outstanding chapter award. First through third place individual and team finishers will continue on to the state competition.

First-place finishers were Josh Hurlburt, in graphic design; Karyn Roberts, in healthcare administration; the team of Ashley Adams and Alec Lowry, in global business; the team of Valerie Dalka and Carmen Ibarra, in entrepreneurship; and the team of Will England, Jared Haug, and Markus Johnson in management and decision making.

Finishing in second place for RHS were Matthew Herman, in personal finance; Katrina Schnoor, in healthcare administration, and Xander Schleicher, in intro to information technology.

Third place finishers were Emma Wendt in computer applications; Gwyenth Lowry, for intro to business procedures; Ellen Padgett, in personal finance; Samantha Bullard, in public speaking; and the team of Abigail Krueger and Lauren Rosendahl, in social media campaign.

Students who placed fourth through eighth, though not advancing to state competition, were also recognized. Placing fourth were Jacob Mahner, in advertising; Mason Hageny, in accounting II; and Natasha Wacker, in client services. Abby Henrichs placed fifth in intro to business procedures and Hunter Hicks finished eighth in accounting I.
