Rhinelander food pantry announces spring challenge, 20th anniversary

Posted

Starting this month, the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry (RAFP) encourages residents to contribute to its annual spring challenge.

The food pantry said two local families who wish to remain anonymous have agreed again to make a partial match for all donations or pledges received from March 1 through April 30.

Donations may include cash, checks, and food items valued at $1 per item or pound.

"Giving during the spring challenge is an excellent way to make your donation go farther and provide even more help to area families in need," the RAFP said.

RAFP also noted that because donations can be lower during this time of year, help is greatly appreciated.

The 2025 spring challenge also marks the 20th anniversary of the RAFP, and over nine million pounds of food distributed to the community.

The organization currently serves over 1,020 households and provides 35,000 meals to children.

It will hold a 20th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser Saturday, April 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pines Event Center in Rhinelander.

The event will include a brunch, raffles, a silent auction, and more.

Tickets cost $30 or $250 for a table of eight and are available at the RAFP or rhinelanderareafoodpantry.org.

All funds raised will go to the annual spring challenge matching grant.

Residents can send monetary donations to Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1306, Rhinelander, WI 54501.

Food items may be dropped off at the food pantry at 627 Coon St. from 9 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Fridays.
