Whether a Northwoods resident aims to be the next Steven Spielberg or Sofia Coppola, or simply wants to learn how to use a camera better, the School District of Rhinelander’s Community Education program is offering a class to get started.
Students in Filmmaking 101 will learn the process of filmmaking from start to finish, from story structure and scene composition to camera settings and post-production techniques. This is an introductory course, so no prior knowledge or experience of filmmaking/videography is necessary. This class is ideal for anyone who is interested in making videos but also may appeal to those just interested in learning more about how a film is put together.
The class will be somewhat tailored to the interests of its students. Each class period will include lectures on aspects of filmmaking, analysis of clips from professional films, class discussions, and occasional hands-on activities.
The class will take place in the Rhinelander High School Library Tuesdays, Feb. 5 - March 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Ages ninth grade to adult are welcome to participate. The instructor will be video and music producer Nate Sheppard. The fee is $30 per person.
