Reader: Fallone for state Supreme Court

Posted

Editor,

On Feb. 18, I am supporting Ed Fallone for our Wisconsin Supreme Court. Every time I have met or heard Ed Fallone, his passion for fairness and non-partisan viewpoint is needed on our court (sic).

All courts need diversity and Wisconsin Supreme Court is in great need of both experience diversity and ethnic diversity. Ed will bring the only ethnic diversity to the court for the first time in Wisconsin’s history with a mother born and raised in Mexico and a great-grandfather who was an Italian immigrant.

Ed’s experience diversity, however, is the key for me. Currently five female judges and another female candidate on the ballot all come from the same law experience perspective – that of a Circuit Court Judge, which is our first level of our court system.

The court needs more than this first level courtroom experience. We need a constitutional scholar’s perspective for Supreme Court cases; one who studies the law and law precedents and its effects, intended and unintended.

Ed Fallone has done that for 28 years at Marquette Law School with intellect, scholarship and a deep understanding of constitutional law. He would follow other great Justices who studied and taught constitutional law before coming to the bench – Justices Shirley Abrahamson and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Vote Ed Fallone Feb. 18 for a Wisconsin Supreme Court that represents the great diversity of this state and represents all its people with a constitutional law perspective.
