Questionable: Why no drive-up WPS drop boxes?

Posted

Each week we answer questions our readers have asked. What do you really want to know? Drop us a line; maybe we can help.

"I am wondering why the Wisconsin Public Service drop box in Rhinelander is inaccessible by car? Driving in the Woodruff area, I noticed that the Public Service drop box is located next to their driveway, making it possible to drop off a payment without having to leave your vehicle."

- Betty, Rhinelander

The Star Journal asked Leah Van Zile, Community Relations Director for Wisconsin Public Service in Rhinelander. Van Zile responded:

"The location of the facility and parking lot has an impact on if and where a payment drop box can be located. In the Rhinelander location, the parking lot has to accommodate employee parking, handicap parking, fuel efficient parking and deliveries, in addition to a payment drop-box. This makes it a difficult location for a drive up drop-box.

For our customers' convenience, there are many other ways to make payment aside from the office drop-boxes, such as at a local pay-station, online via the internet or by mail."

"How often do you plan to update your new StarJournalNOW website?"

- Chris, Newbold

The Star Journal asked Craig Mandli, Editor of the Star Journal and Hodag Buyers' Guide. Mandli responded:

"Our plan is to have new and relevant information available on the website on a daily basis, and between our print publications and our planned website exclusive material, we'll be able to do that.

"The biggest website update will occur on Sunday mornings, to coincide with the delivery of our Star Journal newspaper. We hope everyone enjoys the site.
