Play Pickleball at the YMCA of the Northwoods

Posted

Fall is in the air and pickleball will be available at the YMCA twice a week. Pickleball is the fastest growing participation sport among people 55 and older in the USA.

Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

The YMCA, Rhinelander, has open play time on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning Sept. 24. Players will rotate around so they can play a variety of players during the two hour session. Paddles are available for use so that players can try the sport but each player will need to purchase their own equipment if they are playing regularly. Pickleball is free to Y members and the general public is charged $5 per session.

For more information, call Marilyn Duschl at 715-362-9622 ext. 118.
