One injured, one arrested in Lake Tomahawk snowmo incident

A 56-year-old Rhinelander man was transported to the hospital on Tuesday evening, Feb. 25 after the snowmobile he was operating struck a tree in the Town of Lake Tomahawk. Robert Baur, a snowmobiler traveling with the injured man (on a separate machine) performed CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived, according to the Oneida County sheriff’s department.  The accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on a trail off Lyannas Road in Lake Tomahawk.  The injured rider, who was not breathing after his sled hit the tree, was transported by ambulance to Howard Young Medical Center to be transported by Medevac. Bauer, 60, was arrested for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Lake Tomahawk Fire Department, the Newbold Fire Department, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the Oneida County Ambulance.
