One dead following explosion in town of Crescent

ONEIDA COUNTY – A man is dead following an explosion in the town of Crescent. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to an explosion in a garage at 7:25 p.m.

Several area fire departments, Oneida County EMS and the Sheriff’s Office responded. A press release from the Sheriff’s Office stated that a 34-year-old male died on the scene from injuries sustained in the explosion.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Marathon County Bomb Squad. Oneida County Sheriff's Captain Terri Hook told the Star Journal the explosion is not suspicious in nature at this time and appears to be accidental.

No further information is available at this time. The name of the deceased will be released once family is notified.
