William C. "Smitty" Schmitz, age 93 of Woodruff, died Tuesday July 2, 2018, at Milestone Senior Living, under the care of hospice.
William was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Watertown to William and Adele (Ohrmundt) Schmitz. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Infantry during WWII, from 1944 until 1946.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred, Gerhard, Anita, Clarence, Grover, Reuben, Arnold, Violet, Leona and Herbert.
A private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions in honor of Bill may be given to Camp American Legion, 8529 County Road D, Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin 54539. (Hildebrand Funeral Home)
