Obituary: Judson Mangerson

Judson Mangerson, age 81 of Rhinelander, died December 6, 2015 in Wausau. He was born Sept. 8, 1934, to Carl and Alice Mangerson. He attended Rhinelander High School and graduated in 1955. He honorably served in the army from 1955 through 1958. He married his childhood sweetheart, Janet Kofler on April 12, 1958. He worked one year as a vending machine operator and then purchased and operated the Texaco Gas Station on Lincoln St. until 1964 when he started working at the Rhinelander Paper Mill, where he was known as the SUPER OILER. Jud was an Eagle scout and was very active in scouting when his boys became scouts. He was a past member of the City Council and County Board and also served as town constable in the town of Pelican. His main hobbies were ham radio and playing cribbage. Every morning he would play several games with his wife while enjoying their coffee. He loved his wife and children more than anything and was very proud of them. Jud is survived by his wife Janet and his four children, Michael (Mary), Mark (Diana), Jill (Fritz) Van Wyngaarden and Deborah Johnson; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Carl and his in-laws, John and Nancy Reader, Jim and Bonnie Kofler, Tom and MaryAnn Kofler and Jean Mangerson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers  Charles "Bob," John and Walter. A memorial service for Jud will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home with Deacon Bill Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until just prior to the services on Saturday, December 12, also at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
