Herman C. Kielhold, age 76 of Rhinelander, died Feb. 23, 2018 in New Port Richey, Fla. He was born Aug. 23, 1941 in Steuben to Oris and Claudine (Scheckel) Kielhold. Herman attended schools in Oregon, Wisc., seved in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and attended UW-Platteville, earning a degree in civil engineering. He was employed with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a professional engineer for 37 years, working in five of eight districts in Wisconsin.
In retirement, he and his wife, Lynn, spent winters in New Port Richey, Fla., and summers in Rhinelander. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, trap shooting golfing and bowling. He also took great joy in helping friends and family if they ever needed it,
Herman is survived by his wife, Lynn (Tuchalski), a sister, Arlene (Lloyd) Dorn of Portage; a brother, Lyle of Sioux City, Iowa; a son, Craig (Nataliya) of Madison; step-sons, Dave (Myra) Kubesh and Paul (Gina) Kubesh of Rhinelander; step-daughters, Pam Kubesh or Rhinelander and Karen White Eagle; grandchildren, Emily, Ben and Alina Kielhold, Derek and Randy Kubesh, Kimber (Ebata) McKenzie, Talon Kubesh-Johnson, Michael Burnett Jr., Anika Chapman and Nitaniel White Eagle; great-grandchildren Matthew and Hudson; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Caroline; three brothers, Paul, Allen and Oris Jr.; and one daughter, Kathryn Pendleton.
Herman was cremated as per his wishes. A celebration of his life and burial at Newbold Cemetery will take place this summer. T
