Constance “Connie” K. Tromp, age 79 of Rhinelander, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Rennes Health & Rehab Center with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was born July 20, 1936 in Rhinelander to Herbert and Elizabeth (Pospychala) Ludwig. Connie attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and was a 1954 graduate of Rhinelander High School. She was united in marriage in Rhinelander to Jack Tromp on October 31, 1954. In 1955 a son Michael was born, a daughter, Ann was born in 1963 followed by a third child, Mary who was born in 1964. She remained at home taking care of her family. In 1975 Connie began her employment as a legal secretary with the Johnson Law Firm for eighteen years and retired in 1993. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer working from her home for many years.
Connie enjoyed camping, spending time at the beach, camping at Marion Lake in the U.P. and Indian Shores in Lake Tomahawk. She also enjoyed baking, going to the movies at the Rouman Cinema in downtown Rhinelander, watching her grandchildren swim in her pool, and was very proud season ticket holder to the Green Bay Packer games. But most of all Connie was very proud of her family and took great pride in their accomplishments, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and dedication to her family. Connie was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Michael “Mike” (Kelly) Tromp of Rhinelander, Ann (Jim) Lawrence of Rhinelander and Mary (Gary) Lewandowski of Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Stabenow, Ernie Tromp, Carl Howard Jr., Josh (Sarah) Howard, Jackie (Andrew) Treder, Nathan Lawrence and Rebecca Lawrence and five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kylie, Brekken, Ensley and Harper. Also surviving is a sister, Sally Hannon of Carlsbad, Cal. Connie is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack in 1987, and by one brother, Thomas Ludwig.
The visitation for Connie will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home, from 5 until the 7 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Michael Hayden officiating. Inurnment will take place in July at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery.
