OBITUARY: Charles E "Chuck" Stroede

Charles E "Chuck" Stroede, age 83, of Rhinelander, died July 26, 2016 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. He was born on October 11, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa, to Kermit and Theodora (Kalmes) Stroede. His family then moved to Wausau and eventually to Rhinelander where he graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1950.

After his schooling Chuck served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the states and attended the U of W Whitewater. On September 28, 1963 he married Louise Collier in Rhinelander and they have made their home here since. Chuck had worked as Treasurer for The City of Rhinelander for a number of years, then as a sales rep for Met Life.  He then pursued his real love of real estate. He attained his license and eventually had his own agency.

Chuck loved all sports, especially baseball. He was a huge supporter of Babe Ruth baseball. He could always be found at the diamond. He served as a coach, president and umpire for many years. He was also a big fan of anything with the Hodags, Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He loved the old fast pitch tournament, supported the RIA and BMX, and was a member of the VFW.

Chuck is survived by his wife Louise; three daughters, Jeannine (Timothy Cook)

Stroede of Rhinelander, Lisa (Christopher) Mau of Green Bay and Amy Stroede of Rhinelander; four grandchildren, Brittany (Adam), Brandon, Tyler and Ryan; three brothers, Albert (Char) Stroede of Decatur, Ill.,  Daniel (Karen) Stroede of Rhinelander and Jack (Gay) Stroede of Batavia, Ill.; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Charlotte and brothers Dale and Ted.

Funeral services for Chuck will be held Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 29 and 10 a.m. until just prior to the services on Saturday, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Northland Memorial Park.
