A resolution to replace longtime Oneida County finance director Margie Sorenson, who is planning to retire at the end of this year, will be up for consideration Tuesday by the full County Board.
The county’s Administration and Labor Relations/Employee Services committees have recommended Darcy Smith, who is a deputy finance director in Shawano County. The resolution they forwarded, which notes Smith was unanimously selected by the interview committee, would place her at the “Grade Level S” at "Step 9" of the county’s exempt wage schedule for an annual salary of $84,794 with total yearly wages and benefits of $120,615.
Oneida County labor relations/employee services director Lisa Charbarneau said Smith was one of 17 applicants and four interviewed for the finance director/county auditor position.
Charbarneau said Smith would be able to start the position in mid September and work with Sorenson until she retired at the end of the year.
The Administration and Labor Relations/Employee Services committees have also recommended creating a new information technology system administrator position because there isn’t enough staff to meet the support demands of the county’s users and systems.
The position would be designated at the “Grade Level H” of the county’s non-exempt wage schedule with the total annual wages and benefits ranging from $63,636 at the “Step 1” level to $69,447 at “Step 6.” Based on the resolution’s effective date of Aug. 27 until the end of the year, the fiscal impact of the total wages and benefits would come to $21,742 at Step 1 to $23,757 at Step 6.
Charbarneau said the new position, upon approval, would be advertised to fill.
Two other resolutions on the County Board’s agenda Tuesday call for the installation of a Wi-Fi Internet system for the courthouse at a projected cost of $52,920 and authorizing up to $25,000 to install a new high-speed garage door at the law enforcement center to replace an existing door.
